Hair Restoration Treatment
Hair loss is a problem and also very common among males and females. This could be due to genetics leaving individuals feeling helpless. This treatment may be the answer to those looking for help as platelet rich plasma can aid in regaining hair density without the need for surgery, or suffering harmful effects of medication. This treatment involves injecting your own plasma into the vascular layer of your scalp. PRP can help increase blood supply to hair follicles causing an increase in shaft thickness. Triggering and maintaining the growth phase and the hair growth cycle.
Before your treatment
The day before your treatment drink 2 glasses of water for lunch and dinner. On the day of your treatment, have approx. 500mls of water before your treatment. It is okay to have a normal breakfast or lunch the day of your session. Wash your hair the day before your treatment, or before your treatment. Taking vitamin D or iron is okay, but it is important to avoid alcohol 3 days before your session. If possible, stop smoking or limit smoking 3 days prior to your procedure. The longer you can stop smoking the better it will be on the healing process.
Benefits
This procedure should take approximately 40 minutes. The equipment used is Health Canada approved. Only a small volume of blood is required, with no chance of cross contamination as we use your own blood!
Recommended Treatment Amount
Treatments are always based off of individuals needs. 3 treatments spaced 1 month apart for the first 3 months is recommended. Individuals may need maintenance treatments of approximately 2-3 a year after the recommended plan.
Pain or No Pain?
Pain will depend on each individuals tolerance. I do have a 5% lidocaine numbing gel if needed to help minimize potential discomfort.
FAST Recovery, NO Down time!!
After your scalp treatment it is completely fine to take a warm shower the evening of the treatment. Please remember to avoid harsh dyes or chemical for up to 48 hours after your treatment.
What does PRP stand for?
Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is an autologous high concentration of platelets in a small volume of plasma. Platelets release growth factor helping to initiate the healing cascade, promotes synthesis of extracellular matrix, synthesis of collagen, proliferation and differentiation of epidermal cells to stimulate angiogenesis.
What growth factors are involved?
Epidermal Growth Factor (EFG)- Cell growth, proliferation and differentiation during the remodelling phase
Transforming Growth Factor (TGF)- promotes angiogenesis, involving growth of new blood vessels
Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF)- signalling protein involved with vasculogenesis and angiogenesis helping growth of blood vessels from pre existing vasculature
Fibroblast Growth Factor (FGF)- Promotes angiogenesis, granulation, and epithelialization for the intricate process of tissue repairing itself after injury
Platelet- Derived Growth Factor (FDGF)- Attracts macrophages and fibroblasts to the zone of injury
Collagen Stimulating Growth Factor- Stimulates granulocyte and macrophage proliferation for the growth of healthy tissue and blood cells
Keratinocyte Growth Factor- Keratinocyte migration, differentiation, and proliferations may optimize conditions for healing and the generation of new skin
Also included in plasma- Interleukins, macrophages, keratinocytes, endothelial cells, lymphocytes, fibroblasts, osteoblasts, basophils and mast cells
